Nathan Gill is no fringe politician. He was the leader of the Reform Party and before that UKIP in Wales. A Brexit Party MEP. A friend and ally of Nigel Farage, who in 2016 called him: "terrific," and "as honest as the day is long." This is a MASSIVE story

This is a very important story in the context of Nigel Farage’s publicly expressed - if apparently unconnected - admiration for Putin and other links with a regime that only wants to harm our country.

In the past, if you wanted to work illegally in the UK, you didn't need a passport, ID, National Insurance number, visa, or any other documents. In the future, thanks to a new government initiative, if you want to work illegally in the UK all you won't need is a compulsory digital ID Britcard.

This is how it begins, with indirect insinuations and fake-humble pleas of uncertainty, as if online conspiracy theories, cranks and grifters carry equal weight to the overwhelming body of scientific evidence and medical expert opinion. Then they get into power and start shredding the health service

The most shameful bit… Trump’s inner circle knows he’s unfit for office & a national embarrassment But they’re too compromised, power-hungry, cruel or corrupted to call it out They’ve let America be dragged, on an incalculable scale, because of their own cowardice & greed.

Sadiq Khan is a better person than me. He has to put up with these completely racist lies and just goes about his business promoting London and making it as good a place to live as he can. I’d have called Trump a stupid, orange bigot.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins? He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions. So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

When the most powerful man in the world goes about the place spreading very dangerous nonsense about paracetamol and vaccines, millions of people will sit up and listen. It's consequence free for him but this is going to kill a lot of kids and make a lot more children very ill indeed.

Reform's ‘plan’ to revoke the legal status of millions of UK residents is morally abhorrent & economic madness The public believe in fairness & mutual respect, not this cruel Trumpian policy that would leave us all poorer. We are not America - we must resist this dangerous turn in British politics.

Labour walk past an open undefended goal again. Instead of attacking Farage's Trumpian craziness on the grounds of morality and sanity, all they can think of doing is claim he's got his sums wrong and can't make something work that should NEVER even have been considered in the first place.

This should be an opportunity for the other parties - Reform's proposal is extreme, violates basic fairness norms, and would threaten millions of people who have made their lives here and played by the rules. This approach should be condemned as nasty, unworkable and contrary to British fair play.
