Very sorry to learn that Andrew Ranken of The Pogues has died. A vital part of the erstwhile best band in the world. Man he could make a glorious racket with next-to-no drums. RIP.

Just finished watching Lord of the Flies. I know from recent chat some of you aren’t fans of the book but it’s a favourite of mine (maybe because I read it of my own volition as opposed to for school) and they’ve done a great job keeping the wooziness, queasiness and general unpleasantness in place.

I see it’s Johnny Rotten’s 70th birthday and I for one hope he has a great time. I know he comes out with some shite but then he always did and who cares anyway? Not many people could bang out a sequence of seismic records like he did. Many happy returns Johnny boy.
