A lot of people come into the games industry and pretty soon develop a cynical attitude that the industry is largely run by business guys who don't know a thing about video games. It's only after a few years and some seniority that you realize that those guys don't know shit about business either.

Here's a fun #gamedev probability fact: the more people play your game, the higher the chance that at least ONE person will be SUPER unlucky. The odds of flipping a coin 10 times and getting tails every time is around 0.1%. Seems tiny, right?

The unpleasant truth that game designers know and many gamers don't is that 70-80% of your "cool ideas" for games will prove to be unenjoyable for reasons that cannot be fixed. Having "good thoughts" about games is the floor to design games. Learning to evaluate and iterate will take a career.
