Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in. Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

This, by Will Lloyd, on the increasing absurdity of the monarchy, the irrelevance of 'Windsorism' in an age unmoored from God and deference, is just such a fantastic ride. Beautiful writing.

Not quite sure why the media is presenting the Caerphilly result as a disaster for Labour, rather than as a perfect execution of its electoral strategy. That strategy for *months* now has been to tell everybody who might otherwise be inclined to vote for them to fuck off. And off they have fucked.

I'm gonna try to articulate something I've been thinking about for a while, regarding *why* disillusionment, distrust, & dissatisfaction with democracy are rising. Almost everything I read takes this phenomenon as an exogenous shock, assuming no one chose to make it so. I suspect that's incomplete.

Racist rhetoric has dire consequences. Raping a young woman in a ‘racially aggravated attack’ speaks volumes about the far right’s “claims” to care about women & girls’ safety. Those fronting up far right politics know it’s just a pretence for their own hateful agenda.
