Have been listening to 5 Live for 30+ years but today's commentary by Jonathan Pearce on West Ham vs Leeds has to be up there with the greatest I've ever heard. Jokes, stats, painting a picture numerous times with words, just exceptional in every way.

Actually worse than we were in the League Cup final. Embarrassing and Arteta needs to read the riot act to some of these players as they didn't seem to care one iota

Think you can accept two things at the same time, that this site has an above average number of weirdos who object strongly to anyone even suggesting such a thing, and that doesn't really make a difference when the normies have en masse left Twitter as well

Genuinely think the country would be put in a better frame of mind if instead of Jeremy Vine every week day on Radio 2 they put Tony Blackburn on playing soul for 2 hours.

What a time to put in our worst 45 mins of the season. Awful error from Kepa for the 1st, far too passive defensively for the 2nd, but City had been well on top after the break and the pressure they put us under paid off. Very, very disappointing after a fairly solid 1st half. We deserved nothing

If someone can point me towards an example of a TERF being nearly murdered as Rushdie was 30 years after the fatwa, and indeed after it was withdrawn, then Lewis might just be comparing apples with apples.

Think it says so much about the Guardian's decline that it took four different hacks to write this absolute horse shit, with the usual anonymous sources, angry at Trump but fine with us getting more involved, which has ruined the recovery they were helming

To reiterate something I said the other day: a big part of the reason why we're in this mess is the utter cowardice mid-sized powers like UK have demonstrated, first over Israel's brazen war crimes & now Trump's unabashed warmongering. If we keep playing along it's only going to get worse.

Very odd how a war apparently already won, where every missile launcher, ship, leader etc has already been destroyed or killed requires us to get further and further involved, almost as if every single thing we are being told is a complete fucking lie

The real problem Nick Timothy and Lord Walnut have isn't ultimately with the iftar event in Trafalgar Square, it's that London's mayor is a Muslim who isn't of the Shabana Mahmood type, i.e., independent of thought and therefore Potentially Traitorous. But they can't just say that.

One of the defining features of this war has been the unreality of the official statements from our leaders. If you went by nothing else you would think that Iran was the aggressor and not defending itself from attacks by our allies in what for the theocracy is an existential war.

This is a truly bizarre argument: we don't know how people would vote under a proportional system until we have one, we can only guess. You can't just add polling numbers under FPTP together and assume there's the "progressive majority" so talked about.

Well he wasn't deceived, but it is beyond dispute that Netanyahu has been trying to get the United States to attack Iran for 20+ years. We just didn't have an administration stupid enough to do it until this one.

Before telly went 24/7, Closedown would consist of a clock, the National Anthem (BBC) or regional shutdown theme tune (ITV), and a gentle reminder to switch off your set. But circa 1977, BBC2 aired beautiful but unsettling poetry, read by Sutekh the Destroyer, to send us up the apples and pears...

You can't blame the ordinary Iranians for hoping above hope that this time it would be different; it's the ridiculous windbags who have supported every insane war going that get me, and never face any repercussions for doing so.

Think at this point we can already say the war with Iran has failed on its own terms of deposing the government - and seeing as the Trump admin has come up with horseshit over a number of days now meant to temporarily lower the oil price, can assume it won't be over any time soon.
