It's always really frustrating when the topic of 'gatekeeping' comes up since I always sense this undercurrent of entitlement. as if those complaining are owed other people's limited practice time. it kinda proves to me that a lot of people don't understand how improvement usually works imo

the overlap between ppl who make it to the top and ppl who complain about voting, tiering, and "the system" is *very* small if you measure the skill of the scene by the average, you can try to "fix" the systems but if you measure by the volume of top level players, it doesn't really matter

i do not think skill-based divisions for practice are fundamentally a problem and i think people have a stick up their ass when they draw comparisons between every single system with skill barriers and some form of vouching with + tbh, want to hear some perspectives #compsplatoon
