Remembering the great Rob Reiner by seeking out this stone cold classic, ‘The Sure Thing’. Watching it now as an adult I still remember so many of the lines and beats and notice how strongly it resembles another forever favourite, ‘When Harry Met Sally’.

In 2007, a clip went viral of a man being stopped on the street by a Guangzhou TV reporter. The man was asked about a sex scandal that was all over the news at the time and his reply has been a popular Chinese slang phrase for not getting involved ever since. He said “I’m just here to buy soy sauce”

The impression I get is that The Sure Thing is better known and more widely seen in the US, but here in the UK, I'd say it counts as one of the forgotten classics of 80s teen cinema: It Happened One Night remade as a teen comedy. It's BRILLIANT.
