The stupidity of this: the MTA is increasing base fare by a shade under 3.5% for the first time since 2023. That's a compounded rate of 1.7%/year. The Rent Guidelines Board *that Adams controls* jacked tenants' rents by 6.3% in that time period. That's a compounded rate of 3.1%/year.

2 things wrong here with statement. He forgot he just raised Fair Fares eligibility to 150% of the FPL (council & advocates wanted 200% bc people commuting to a minimum wage job can’t qualify at this level). Fares 26% of the @mta.info operating budget, congestion pricing for capital plan.

Looks like the Hempstead lawsuit against congestion pricing may have one nail in its coffin. Its strategy may have been to remove its case from federal court & get in front of a state judge whose father is Nassau GOP chair. Now case may face a less friendly judge in NY County.

New data from @mta.info shows in second week of congestion pricing Monday-Friday, entries below 60th including the excluded roadways were down on average about 4.5% from their baseline of 583k (based on an avg Jan weekday over the past 3 years) and entries into just the tolled zone down 15.5%.

Apparently LI senator doesn’t know @mta.info basics when calling for its leader to resign: yes cap plan is nearly $68 bil & it does have a funding gap, not $16 bil but $33 bil. But congestion pricing is paying for the $15 bil in the last cap plan. The $33 bil was for Albany to fund.

Apparently a video court conference w/ Judge Gordon in the NJ Congestion Pricing case said that tolls could go forward while the feds came back with their answers to his mitigation concerns. NJ has filed for a TRO & preliminary injunction—only 3 days to show cause.

After reading the whole 72 page decision in the NJ congestion pricing case (I was out to dinner with my daughter and her two friends when it dropped) pages 45-53 is the only time the judge sides with the plaintiffs and remands the mitigation part back to @usdotfhwa.bsky.social (1/)

#BreakingNews Judge Lewis Liman rejects motion for preliminary injunction in four congestion pricing suits. 111 page decision basically says cases wouldn’t win on merits.

Lawyers for the @mta.info said in court today if congestion pricing is stopped, the authority could lose $52 mil a month. Opponents argued outside if @govkathyhochul.bsky.social had money to give NJ why not give to MTA (the money would come from the toll itself).

Sources tell me @govmurphy.bsky.social turned down a substantial offer from @govkathyhochul.bsky.social to fund transit, more for mitigation and crossing credits at the GW Bridge which currently has none in settlement talks in NJs lawsuit against congestion pricing. ny1.com/nyc/all-boro...

.@GovKathyHochul all but confirms what sources have told me that she offered @GovMurphy more money for mitigation to settle Nj congestion pricing lawsuit and says the state is negotiating in bad faith (they turned the money down). That’s why we haven’t seen a ruling yet.

In response to my Q on whether she may nix the next 4% @mta.info fare hike, @govkathyhochul.bsky.social self-effacing: “I was able to push off a fare increase already, so believe me when I know how to stop something I do it. I will put that out there, there’s already a record of that.”
