The "No Kings" march in Chicago was very much a festival, but protestors today outside the ICE processing facility in Broadview, IL were subject to arrest and hospitalization. A rep with the People's Law Office in Chicago has confirmed 8 arrests today with 7 people still in custody as of 7 pm.

How is this the failure of student and faculty activist groups and not of the rich and powerful Democratic party, which sneered at the idea of even COMPROMISING its blind allegiance to the cause of incinerating Palestinian children?

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.

The same day these guys caused the crash, only a few blocks away, Border Patrol arrested a 19 y/o Black U.S. citizen outside a Walgreens. One white agent cursed out people filming the arrest as he knelt on the teenager's back. Body cam footage in this story shows how the two incidents are related.
