Not going to lie. I am very worried about what this means for our funding agencies. No matter what budget Congress decides, they could make work close to impossible for the programs they want to defund.

I can't stress enough how close U.S. science is to the cliff. No one asked, but my opinion on the Texas catastrophe is that you can issue all the right products in time but it remains very very difficult to get people to take water as seriously as tornadoes. Even more true at 4 am. Catastrophic when you’re dealing with a debris flow that’s like a tsunami.

A huge blow was dealt to hurricane forecasters this week as a critical tool was abruptly terminated by the Department of Defense and NOAA. The immediate discontinuation of data from three weather satellites will severely impact hurricane forecasts this season and beyond. More ⬇️
