Grand Marsh with an impressive 1.41” of rain this afternoon as multiple thunderstorms moved over the site. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the weekend, with periods of heavy rain possible. Not a total washout, but watch out for lightning!

Anybody else woken up by that storm complex in the early morning hours? Some good rains fell across central and into southeastern Wisconsin in the last 24 hours - with 2 inches falling in parts of Cranberry Country!

A cluster of storms moving into northwestern Wisconsin could bring gusty winds and small hail. When thunder roars, go indoors!

Fog season is in full swing. There’s a Dense Fog Advisory this morning for all of eastern Wisconsin, EXCEPT Fond du Lac County. And then there’s a Dense Fog Advisory in Douglas County as well. Low beam headlights on. Take it easy on the roads, especially in low-lying areas.

It's new Drought Monitor day! Less than 4% of Wisconsin is experiencing Abnormally Dry conditions, which is great news. Since late July, we've been in our longest period of relatively drought-free conditions in more than 2 years.

Another chilly early fall morning in Wisconsin. A few of Wisconet's stations got down to around freezing the last couple nights. While the growing season isn't over yet, it won't be long. Leaves are starting to change colors. Apple cider is showing up in stores. Isn't it great?

Patchy frost across the Badger State this morning, with lows dipping down into the upper-30s for many of you. Things will warm up nicely, with highs getting to the 60s this afternoon - great football weather for today's Packers - Lions game.

More than a few places saw their coldest high temperatures on record for September 4 yesterday. Fall-like weather continues today, with temperatures in the 40s and low-50s this morning.

Cool morning in northeastern Wisconsin, where temperatures have dropped into the mid-30s. A frost advisory remains in effect for Ashland, Iron, Vilas, Oneida, Forest, and Florence Counties until 8 am.

Here’s the Blanchardville station!

We're installing station #78 today in western Rusk County. This just about completes our initial roll out of Wisconet stations (we're working with Menominee Nation and the National Park Service for a few more stations). Time to buckle down and write our journal article. Here goes.

Dense fog is a concern over western Wisconsin this morning, so take it easy on the roads. High waves and rip currents on both Lake Michigan and Superior will make beaches dangerous the next couple days. Frost is likely tonight in Ashland, Iron, and Vilas Counties.

Station #77 was installed today in Blanchardville, bringing us up to 70 out of 72 Wisconsin counties! Station photo to come, but until then, enjoy this screenshot of our backend software, Vaisala Network Manager.

Looks like parts of the Northwoods saw their first frosts today (and the RAWS station near Crandon dipped to 32°). Four of our top-5 lowest temperatures this morning were recorded in county (Knight) or national (Flambeau, Shanagolden, and Fence) forests.

A crisp August morning with mid-40s all the way down to the Illinois border. Temperatures will rebound nicely, with highs in the mid- to upper-60s. There may be patchy frost overnight in the Northwoods, with lows by Tuesday morning dipping into the upper-30s.

Some stats for you. Our program manager is visiting the UP of Michigan this weekend and sent these pictures of Tahquamenon Falls, which is flowing around 1800 cubic feet/second. The Menomonee River at Tosa peaked around 9000 cfs during the flooding August 10. 5x as much!

Station #76 has gone up in a pretty corny location in Crivitz. But don't worry, the corn is getting close to harvest and the area is going to be moving over to pastureland.
