So apparently there was a discussion about writers promoting their books too often? The other day, my editor said that writers should diligently promote their books, as opposed to posting once or twice on social media just to let people know they have a new book out.

It’s very telling how quickly the people who start “only using AI for…” whatever thing they thought they couldn’t do or afford, like art or music or plotting or reviews, or who wrongly thought AI could do that thing as well or better, move on to using it for pretty much everything.

I've seen people trying to defend it today by saying "No, no, I just use it to brainstorm, bounce ideas, I do the actual writing" and with all the kindness in the world I need to tell you: if there is a stage of writing you are not good at, you need to get good, not use the plagiarism machine.

i've been saying this like a broken record, but the reason i grew up loving reading and then started writing is because reading was inexpensive and my family was poor. it was a rare, affordable form of entertainment. the library in conjunction with mmpbs made it possible.
