Sure, "AI" is handing out private user data like candy, but you should really be doing is paying to use it to make decisions for you, generating your application's code, manage your sensitive personal, corporate, and financial information, etc. etc.

Remember micropayments? Micropayments were a good idea. Micropayments were going to be a thing. Why haven't we gotten micropayments working yet. Paying 50¢ (or less; I can't even remember) for a newspaper from a box was a micropayment. We can do that so easily now. Why aren't we doing that now.

The goal of the "tech industry" is not innovation in any real sense, but instead to insert itself into the process of normal people just trying to live their goddamned lives in pursuit of diverting as much money to itself as possible.

I don’t know how to explain this to anyone who isn’t an artist, but we search our whole lives for even one idea that feels true to ourselves, fulfilling in its goals, AND is easily communicated to others. Some never find one. It is rarer than diamonds and means at least as much as falling in love.

And this is the thing. People who are impressed by "AI" writing are impressed because they themselves cannot write. Nor for that matter do they understand or appreciate what good writing is. So to them it might as well be the same. They think "oh! This is good!" when it in fact very much is not.

Been thinking about the psychology behind "business leaders" pushing for "AI" in creative usage. Part of it comes down to the nature of the job: obviously they think what they do is super-important, and what they do is essentially telling other people what to do and having it happen.

So, I guess their customer base is reduced to wealthy 50 yr olds looking for digital sycophants and girlfriends. Go do that and leave the rest of us alone.
