Oh DANG! Claude has a google calendar connector. I can paste an email about finding a time into it, it can actually find my availability, and write an email back about it / schedule the meeting. I am sooooooooooo happy. I hate scheduling with a passion that is hard to describe without profanity.

I had the same experience when using Claude code last summer, and it led to me banning its use in the lab. bsky.app/profile/wcra... Trust in science is perhaps our most valuable asset, and we expose ourselves to grave liability by using agentic tools that are deceptive by design.

A bit late to the party- but this is one of the finest papers I have read in years. It is both super cool science, and does the near impossible in our field: grounding insights about the evolution of molecular mechanism in the ecological arena in which they (presumably) arose. It's a masterpiece.

I've spent the few days writing a 'mega multicellularity' lecture, integrating philosophy, paleontology, comparative cell bio, experimental evolution and theory into a (hopefully) comprehensive picture. It's 105 slides long and could easily be 200. It's kinda making me want to write a book.

Great new paper! Many stinging wasps, bees, and ants have controlled the sex of their developing eggs for millions of year using an ancient segment of their genome- always the same segment- but what's weird is, *the exact DNA sequence of that segment doesn't seem to matter*.
