I am completely shocked by this tragic news. I really can't believe it. Raúl Pacheco-Vega was an outstanding scholar who did so much to promote good scholarship. Utterly devastating news.

And my own take on some of the key points in what OMB/Vought is trying to do here: "If you wanted to cripple science research and were disappointed that Congress continued to fund it, this is the sort of document you would produce."

I am obviously a biased source, but there's a reason why Evolution still has a substantial virtual component to the conference. And the combination of very low fees plus some headline events is a whole lot of that.
