We know that transit is a lot safer than driving no matter how you slice it, and cities built to encourage transit trips see far less people dying on their streets. Making transit faster and more reliable has to be a part of the work to get Portland to zero traffic deaths.

Portland has an incredible food cart scene, mostly by doing nothing more than allowing carts. Sidewalk vending, by contrast, is regulated to an extent that it's pretty rare. By removing some anti-competitive language from code and a requirement to go through design review (!) we change that.

What’s the “Beverly Hills Carve-Out”? For cities with a population under 35,000, SB 79 only applies for a quarter-mile rather than a half-mile. This creates some really weird situations, because a lot of transit stops are near the boarder of two cities
