Yesterday I had a peak bank holiday outing to Eltham Palace with @bright0nkath.bsky.social. The Art Deco interiors were as gorgeous as ever and the sun even shone a teensy bit. As soon as I can get the entire gaff shipped to Walthamstow (including the moat), I'm moving in.

Saw Chiharu Shiota's installations at Hayward Gallery today. Letters Of Thanks (string + letters) was the coolest; pleasing from many angles. The Locked Room (string + keys) was OK, but hard to get a decent pic. During Sleep (string + beds) made me think I should hoover under the bed more often.

A small but very loud bird (I think it's a robin) has woken me up at around 6.30 for the last five days running. It sits on a bush outside my window, sings a PIERCING little song a couple of times and then flies away. How do I cancel this unwanted service? Do I email the RSPB with UNSUBSCRIBE??

Spent a lovely afternoon at a lino-printing class in Crystal Palace. I've never tried lino-printing before but it involves a satisfying amount of gouging. I'm pretty pleased with the resulting print, too!

TV update: A Woman of Substance is a very daft series which consists of cliché after cliché after cliché AND ends halfway through the book, so it's clearly hoping for a second season I bet it won't get. The Other Bennet Girl, however, is charming Sunday-night-bonnet viewing. Sedate but ❤️warming.

Sometimes work is a mire of tedium but this week not one but TWO DOGS came into the office and were enthusiastically petted by me: a West Highland terrier called Brocken earlier in the week, and a miniature Schnauzer called Myrtle today. Very good girls, A++, would cuddle again.

Finally made it to the Soho Theatre Walthamstow – haven't been in this hall since it was a cinema in the late 90s/early 00s. They've done it up lovely, and Mike Wozniak was very amusing, so good job all round. (Also saw Henry Paker in the audience. Beans supporting Beans, you love to see it.)
