A bit of a mega week for me. I met Holy Grass (Hierochloe odorata) for the first time! The golden and red inflorescences were bobbing away at the Saltmarsh edge and the leaves were incredibly distinctive #wildflowerhour

I see this week’s #WildflowerHour theme is #CarrotsAndPeas - so here's the plant that defines the carrot family, or rather, as we should call it, the celery family (Apiaceae). Late for #WildflowerHour so have some Greater Chickweed Stellaria neglecta), Goldilocks Buttercup (Ranunculus auricomus), Silverweed (Potentilla anserina), and Water Avens (Geum rivale).

As a child, I was given a Wildflower book published by Octopus. I loved that book. My eye was caught by the Vetch page and I remember my delight at finding my first one and ticking the page.
