Your liverwort is Marchantia polymorpha, popular with scientists as a "lab rat" plant that's easy to grow - not so popular with gardeners. Here it's a pioneer species, resisting erosion and providing a substrate where seedlings can get started.

Narrow-leaved Ragwort, Senecio inaequidens from South Africa was unknown in VC62 a few years ago, but is spreading rapidly. One plant appeared at the top of this bank at Skinningrove 2 years ago - now the bank is covered. Still flowering. #wildflowerhour

In 2024, St Hilda's Church, West Cliff, Whitby gave permission to Whitby Swifts for specially made swift boxes to be installed in the belfry. A swift call system was used to attract the birds. This year, swifts used at least 3 of the boxes. Success! @rspbengland.bsky.social

Sea Milkwort, Lysimachia maritima, growing in a fragment of salt marsh by the river Esk in Whitby for #WildflowerHour. #AquaticPlants in the sense that they can be submerged on a high tide.

Shoreweed, Litorella uniflora, is an interesting plant well adapted to the fluctuating water levels at reservoirs like Scaling Dam. It grows underwater and on the shore. Now in full flower on dry land - although easily missed! @bsbibotany.bsky.social
