The less Nova Scotians know about their past & feel connected to place, the easier it is for a government to redefine conservation areas & penalize people for not aligning use of land with exploitation. History is dangerous, writers in schools are dangerous, artistic critique of power is dangerous.

Also - people already got laid off because of these. Their lives have been in turmoil. The province will never apologize for this, but god, I hope we can support people who've suffered from whiplash here.

I'm furious at so many of the cuts in NS's provincial budget. They'll impact all Nova Scotians, in ways we don't fully comprehend yet. We didn't vote for eliminating bridge tolls, and now the gov't has to find that revenue loss elsewhere -- like in cuts to arts and culture. As a writer, this hurts.

You know what? A lot of the staff at visitor information centres and museums in Nova Scotia are women and young people. This is the same as what happened with the support workers in schools, who are also mostly women.

At least we still have our democracy? 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is really infuriating to see how misogyny really does unite men across the sociopolitical spectrum. And, in so far as the Epstein files go, they sort women into two categories: fuckable or irrelevant. When they near a hint of accountability they complain about not being able to make women prey.

Absolutely, and the loss of the ability to work from home doesn’t just keep women out of the workforce, it keeps women with children in terrible or even dangerous relationships.

May the Epstein files remind every woman that she should not feel beholden to beauty standards established by men who are attracted to children.
