Major companies and industry leaders need to protect developers, partners, and creators. Speak out against harassment campaigns. Ignoring them allows the people who are already safe and untouchable to remain so, while leaving at-risk folks to face hate and harassment head-on and alone.

I absolutely loved working at IGN, but I was so burnt out and overworked that I felt I had to leave. I don’t regret that decision, but I am still sad I had to make it. When I was leaving, my biggest concern was my already small, overburdened news team would be even more overworked.

In the four years I've been at IGN I've watched its staff shrink and shrink, all while those who remain are asked to do more and more. I see colleagues skip lunch, stay late day after day, and burn out. IGN staff are passionate and love their work. But we can't keep letting that be exploited.

There’s been a lot of talk about entertainment criticism over the past few days, and I appreciate that! I would love to see similar energy for entertainment reporters. The people putting their asses on the lines to give a voice to the under-represented in this industry. Reporting is *hard.*

I think companies forget that their remaining employees see this too. They know that they can bust their ass, beat every goal, and still be without a job in a month. It’s not just a hamster wheel; it’s one made out of paper over a lava pit. Corporate leaders are failing their employees, full stop.
