Hello! I figure a poem is appropriate for a first post. Here's a link to "Requiter" from the Test Site Poetry Prize Finalists issue of Interim, from my manuscript "Song for the Continuous Present"---with luck, I'll finally be a 'final' instead of a 'finalist' in the near future!

One of the more misogynistic takes currently trending in the AI policy space is "women use less AI than men because they have less tech literacy" Ok but have you considered that women use less AI than men because we have more tech literacy?

AI is the lynchpin of the whole political project. It’s the container for the parallel governance they have promised each other. I truly think that they are surprised that people don’t like it…and that they can’t yet wholesale punish everyone for not liking them.

Congrats to the winners, & it's great to be a finalist! That Song for the Continuous Present has continued to be a finalist/semifinalist several times in the past few years gives me hope...and the obstinate courage to keep sending it out.

Few things buttress my faith in humanity like this loathing. The fact that the AI overlords have so miscalculated what we would think and whether it would matter is fun too. A bit like the Trump Administration's miscalculation of how Minneapolis would respond to invasion by a thug army.

Hey, let's use a thing destroying the planet to "save" the planet, well, um, theoretically it *may* save the planet, er, um, uh, or mitigate the damage by .045%...meanwhile, let's build more data centers! 🤑🙈🤑

I can't get over this number: in 2007, there were 360,000 newspaper jobs. Now, there are 80,000. "My local paper sucked!" Sure. What sucks even more? The void. "I get all my news from the Guardian!" No, the Guardian doesn't report on your town council, your school board, local cops.

one of the weirdest things about the current moment is how the national media have to pretend like they don't know what this is about. official government social media accounts are posting about racially cleansing America and they have to pretend like it's not clear who the bad guy is.

If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up. But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important. We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand” Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.
