IMPORTANT request. Will visiting birders please refrain from entering the gravelled turning circle area by the building at Pilning Wetland. There are ground nesting birds in the area that are likely to be disturbed or nest trampled. The Stints do show well from the footpath if patient. Thanks.

The Mareca type duck still present this morning. Clearly got either/&/or Gadwall/Falcated/Wigeon sp in it. Can’t personally see any Mallard influence but duck hybrids can be tricky. Call sounds identical to Falcated to my ear.

Not the hoped for Bonaparte’s Gull at the Swannery today but a 3cy Little Gull was a nice surprise during my lunch break. Much pinker than the pic implies. No further sign of the Spoonbill.

Five drake American wigeon were on the Ogmore Estuary for their second day and showing much better at Portobello Island. A little ringed plover was on the island too. In the flight shot there were only four which were accompanied by a pair of Eurasian wigeon.

News has reached us of people trespassing at the Woodsford Garganey to get a better view or a better picture. This is an active working quarry & risks disturbing a rare breeding species. It also dissuades finders from releasing bird news. A lose, lose, lose situation. Please lets up our game.

I've just entered into a collaboration with these guys:
coastalvibescruises.com
They want to kick off some birding cruises around Weymouth Bay and along to the Purbecks this summer. Local Birders might fancy a trip out, £25 per head. I think we can all remember that Red-footed Booby! Timetable soon.

This was once a viewing platform at Radipole RSPB. They should be ashamed of what their alledged cost cutting measures are doing to a great reserve.
