My 4 months of bird surveys at work is over, but just in time for a heatwave I'm to be on a school roof for 3 days. Bad timing

Two marsh harriers turned up and tackled both gull islands at once, judging by the gulls the harriers are sitting on the island, think they both caught something

Finally i have a weekend home in Dorset, where I have a full weekend with no friend/family plans, no volunteering. It's been months, I want to finally whistle stop the reserves, but I also have a neglected task list. I also just to do something different, wanna go snorkling.

Some of the many swallowtail butterfly shots I got on sunday, wouldn't be back this way for a long while, so made the most of when they appeared.

The downside is visiting other reserves around the country. In my mind it's 'this is a nice place, but get closer/better sightings of these in Dorset. :p

Know one thing I hate about Dorset? Is that we're too good with our wildlife spots..you wake up and a big decision where to go..lodmoor? Portland? Middlebere, Arne, Morden bog, durlston, lytchett, Upton heath ? Studland?....so many choices it can be hard to choose. We are quite a lucky lot.

Today was a good day in my Norfolk quick stopover.

Think I'm on the verge of burn out. More exhausted than normal and I'm already tired as a baseline due to reasons Even waking up with more hallucination sleep. Need this work month to be over.

Lovely privilege with a hare that came up to 10m of me, sat, cleaned itself and walked away, sadly the field appearance wasn't due to drought but field entirely sprayed with herbicdies, so no food for it here.

The volume of birds I. The garden, you'd almost think it's winter with how chaotic it is Normally this is a lul period, (minus those here for mealworms) but they're here in waves, all manner of species . .

I like Sundays on that ther isn't morning rat run traffic first thing so I enjoy the birds .the firecrest is really popping off this morning, it's quiet till you get morning walker and beach going traffic

Hey, you guys aren't dormice. This was the only box with a nest in use from birds. All other boxes have fledged. Guess this one is a little behind. 7chicks. No doubt when we next check these boxes they'll be gone.

God I hate having a saniflo toilet. It's broken again, or something is jammed, went in myself in all the yuck but can't find the problem..so will need plumber, no doubt can't come till Monday, costs a bit and I have no toilet till then.

First of the baby GSW in the garden..something I've noticed now it's the 4th year. It's ALWAYS the male who brings them and feeds them. The female never does and actually gets aggressive to the chicks if she sees them

will see if the falcon hangs around for my return on Tuesday, but we shall see. Any hints on where? and more so where to park?

I'm in Suffolk this weekend I wanted to enjoy a bit of birding, but also been so horribly warm I also don't want to leave hotel room.
