So there’s a new streaming protocol being standardized that can do sub-second latency from OBS to a browser, no proprietary infra required. It’s called Media over QUIC (aka "MoQ"). I work on it, and I started a newsletter about it. Issue #0:

Post someone you've been told you look like who you definitely don't look like. In high school, when I worked on the school paper with
@johnphudson.bsky.social
he used to call me "Rivers." Didn't see it at all then; looking back though, I kinda get it.

But I digress. I'm looking for someone who knows some full-stack stuff and wants to learn things like QUIC and how hardware works and what's up with all that embedded stuff. I fully expect to be training you on the job so a hunger to learn "all the things" is a huge plus.

I have no complaints at all about how my life turned out but still wonder how things in the biz would be different if artists' consent had been at all interesting to people when filesharing upended the "how you get paid" math and then streaming said "here's how: .003 per play take it or leave it"

I'm surprised to find there's no way to fast forward merge a branch across repos* on
GitHub.com
or in the mobile apps. With all the other things they allow you to do without involving a git client, I'm surprised that's not one. *e.g. to update a fork's main branch with the latest from upstream

Does anyone have good resources that discuss authorization, particularly in a distributed system? Not like _how_ but when/where to do it. eg. do you authorize at every network boundary? only at the gateway? everywhere in the code?
