It’s the entire point. There’s no plan to make this meaningful for students. No plan to use it administratively. Its design and implementation signals its only real intent. It’s best and easiest use case is for systematic harassment and to scare faculty into complying in advance.

The UNC system just released its final policy on mandatory syllabi disclosure, stating that syllabi are university (not faculty) IP and certain course info must be posted on new, publicly searchable databases before every semester. Lots of rambling thoughts, but this strikes me as another way that the push for AI in education is going to widen equity gaps. Students with the know-how to attend office hours/have access to writing centers and the like will get actual assistance. Everyone else gets whatever this is.

Been thinking more about this: so many tech folks are not creating racist tech by accident. They believe Black kids-especially disabled Black kids-need more punishment. White supremacy relies on criminalizing Blackness. They are happily fueling the nexus between tech, schools & jails for Black kids

I’ve noticed an uptick in dismissals of the concerns of teachers about AI. Some say that it’s *their* job to find a way to evaluate work that AI can’t replicate. I would just ask that you talk to real teachers and really listen. I’d also suggest reading a bit about writing and the brain.
