Great to see the Conservatives wanting to reform student loans. Would like to see an account for Osborne replacing maintenance grants with loans in 2015. This has left poorer students with bigger debts vs richer ones for a whole decade, compounding inequality between rich and poor. It’s scandalous.

just quite maddening that Osborne's legacy is currently "hey that guy who helped the Tories get back into power then was chancellor for a while until Brexit, and now he has 300 jobs lol" and not "look, everything the light touches was fucked up by George Osborne in some way between 2010 and 2016"

Israel responsible for two-thirds of record 129 press killings in 2025, says CPJ
Committee to Protect Journalists report says Israel also to blame for 81% of ‘intentionally targeted’ journalist killings * The deadly toll on journalists in the Gaza war A record 129 journalists and media workers were killed in the course of their work in 2025, two-thirds of them by Israeli forces, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). It was the second consecutive year in which killings of members of the press reached unprecedented levels, and the second year running in which Israel was responsible for roughly two-thirds of the total, the New York-based independent organisation, which documents attacks on journalists worldwide, said in its annual report published on Wednesday. Found this an interesting read as very definitely not an expert, feels like the government has done the right things and proposed a reasonable package, but there will still be many issues and delivery won't be until after the next election. So what does this say about "improved delivery" as a goal?

There's a lot of buzz about Christian revival among young adults in the UK & US. Perceptions of revival are fueled by results from opt-in online surveys. However, these surveys may be misleading. Surveys from random samples of the population don't show any clear evidence of revival. My new post:
