Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. It hits particularly hard this year - a powerful reminder of why we fight, and a moment to reflect on those no longer with us. May they rest in power.

Horrific news on anti-trans gender quotas. Any "reputational cost" the party might now suffer due to "internal division" is, frankly, on the people who made this decision. Many amazing people within the party have tried doing this the nice way, but we have been completely ignored every single time.

Today, I asked the Minister for Women and Equalities, Bridget Phillipson, what she is doing to support trans people more generally, as well as how she plans to resolve contradictions between the Gender Recognition Act and the new ruling.

Read the room, then lead the room. I will not be dragged to the right by media hysteria over immigration. It remains an issue which demands respect and compassion. The government must take care not to join the Conservative Party and Reform UK in the abyss.

If I do not “live full time as a female” then I will have committed perjury which can result in a fine, a prison sentence or both. How can I live as a woman when according to the Supreme Court and the EHRC, I am not one?

I’ve written, alongside colleagues, to the Minister for Women & Equalities about the appointment of the new EHRC Chair. We share the concerns that both the JCHR and WEC had during the pre-appointment hearing. The EHRC urgently needs to rebuild trust with all communities.

There has been a lot of speculation over the past 24 hours regarding my removal as the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Women and Equalities and Scotland. I can now confirm I have been removed from that position, and have shared my response below.

💯💯💯 Whatever happens with the legal challenges to the EHRC's attempts at a trans bathroom ban, we need new legislation to fix this mess and protect trans people in their lived sex.

Thank you to Rebecca for writing this. There's a (deliberate) disconnect between how trans+ folks and their close allies, and how cis people more widely, are experiencing this. We in the LGBT+ Lib Dems are working on how we can close that gap and bring the reality home to the wider community.
