This is about fairness. People who came to the UK legally, contributed to our NHS, science, social care and communities, should not face retrospective rule changes. I challenged the Government to end the fear and uncertainty and rule this out.

Thank you to AgeUK for hosting a vital reception on the crisis in A&E. 30,000 people wait over 12 hours every week. Patients left on trolleys in corridors — no privacy, no dignity. This is a national scandal. The Lib Dems are calling for urgent change & have set out a plan to end corridor care.

I recently visited SuperSharp in Waterbeach 🚀🛰️ They are developing an innovative new approach to Earth observation and imaging from space. It was fascinating to see their work on next-gen satellite technology — & exciting to think they could soon be flying the flag for Ely & East Cambs in space 🌍🛰️

During a recent debate in Parliament on the Key Stage 1 curriculum, I shared the experience of Becky, a teacher and parent from Ely, and the impact of play-based learning. I also raised concerns about SEND, and the pressure on schools to be more inclusive without the resources they need.

🍻After months of uncertainty, I welcome the Government’s business rates relief for pubs and music venues. But once again, they have adopted a piecemeal approach. The Government must commit to extending its relief to cafes, restaurants and attractions which make up such invaluable community hubs.

Cutting business rates for pubs is the last chance for pubs and hospitality businesses to get the certainty they need to carry on. The Government must now get serious about backing our community hubs and high streets by backing this vital business rates relief.

Family farmers should never have been put through this. After over a year of uncertainty and anguish, the Government has finally been forced to water down its unfair tax on inherited farmland. This concession has been hard won, thanks to farmers who fought tirelessly to protect their livelihoods.

I am proud to say that I have closed my 10,000th case, including individual questions, concerns, and calls for assistance covering a vast array of subjects and from people right across Ely and East Cambridgeshire. I now look forward to the next 10,000!

In a recent debate in Parliament, I called for a national action plan for Acquired Brain Injury. Current support is inadequate, yet successful rehabilitation and recovery is possible with the right care. For all those suffering and their carers, the Government must publish a national ABI strategy.

As Islamophobia Awareness Month ends, the rise in anti-Muslim hate remains impossible to ignore. Together, we must call it out and build the inclusive Britain we all need and deserve.

The Prime Minister just told me any party leader should want to get to the bottom of this Russian bribery scandal with Reform. He is the Prime Minister and a party leader. Why isn't he launching a national investigation himself?

The Government has turned its back on farmers. The family farm tax will devastate family farms and likely force closures, threatening our countryside, environment and food security. If ministers care about a sustainable future, they must reverse this and back farmers accross the UK.

Visited the brilliant MAGPAS Air Ambulance team today. They operate 24/7, responding to life-threatening emergencies across our region and attended 1,872 callouts last year. They receive no regular state funding and rely on donations to keep saving lives. An absolutely vital service. 🚁🧡

It’s International Men’s Day — a chance to support men and boys’ wellbeing. Huge thanks to local initiatives like Soham Men’s Shed and the Ely Men’s Walking and Talking Group, and to the countless projects nationwide helping men connect, talk, and thrive.

Yesterday, the Home Secretary announced plans to overhaul the UK’s broken asylum system. The system needs fixing, but Labour's proposals signal a deeply concerning shift—an attack on Britain’s proud tradition of compassion and support for refugees and asylum seekers.

Our precious chalk streams — like the beautiful River Snail in my constituency — are under real pressure. 🌱💧 That’s why I’ve been calling for strong, statutory protections, not just guidance that can be changed without scrutiny.

On Tuesday, I spoke about the urgent need for a national dyslexia strategy. Too many children are being labelled as failures when the system is failing them. We must ensure early diagnosis, proper support in the classroom and fairer assessments for pupils like my constituent, Lucy. buff.ly/YFsTuOf
