Great news! Fen Cottage at Wicken Fen has been listed at Grade II by @DCMS on the advice of @HIstoricEngland. This very special cottage, one of the last remaining fen dwellings, was created using local materials. Now in the care of @nationaltrust it is open to visitors and well worth a visit.

Healthy rivers, lakes and coasts are essential for thriving local economies—and for the wellbeing of the people and wildlife that depend on them. Ahead of this Saturday’s #EarthHour, I spent time with WWF to discuss the urgent need to restore our rivers and support the farmers who care for our land.

[1/3] I am increasingly troubled by the escalating conflict in Iran, which is costing countless lives and endangering more by the day. President Trump’s decision to launch this war was entirely illegal, and will bring only bloodshed for the Iranian people, not freedom.

Rural healthcare has been neglected for too long. In Parliament today I called on the Minister to bring forward a strategy to end the neglect of rural healthcare.

Pleased the High Court ruled the proscription of Palestine Action a "grave misuse of terrorism laws". Making a legal equivalence with groups such as ISIS undermined civil liberties and public trust. The Government must now abide by the ruling and do right by the peaceful protestors arrested under it

It's National Apprenticeship Week! 🛠 Earlier this week I had the pleasure of meeting apprentices and providers at an Apprenticeship Fair here in Parliament, where it was great to find out about the incredible range of opportunities available to make a start in exciting new careers. (1/2)

This is about fairness. People who came to the UK legally, contributed to our NHS, science, social care and communities, should not face retrospective rule changes. I challenged the Government to end the fear and uncertainty and rule this out.

Thank you to AgeUK for hosting a vital reception on the crisis in A&E. 30,000 people wait over 12 hours every week. Patients left on trolleys in corridors — no privacy, no dignity. This is a national scandal. The Lib Dems are calling for urgent change & have set out a plan to end corridor care.

I recently visited SuperSharp in Waterbeach 🚀🛰️ They are developing an innovative new approach to Earth observation and imaging from space. It was fascinating to see their work on next-gen satellite technology — & exciting to think they could soon be flying the flag for Ely & East Cambs in space 🌍🛰️

During a recent debate in Parliament on the Key Stage 1 curriculum, I shared the experience of Becky, a teacher and parent from Ely, and the impact of play-based learning. I also raised concerns about SEND, and the pressure on schools to be more inclusive without the resources they need.

🍻After months of uncertainty, I welcome the Government’s business rates relief for pubs and music venues. But once again, they have adopted a piecemeal approach. The Government must commit to extending its relief to cafes, restaurants and attractions which make up such invaluable community hubs.

This Holocaust Memorial Day we remember millions of people systematically murdered under Nazi persecution. 81 years since the liberation of the concentration and death camps, it is vital that we continue to reflect on that dark corner of history, honour its survivors, and learn from its lessons.

🌿 This week, I hosted an event Parliament showcasing the Natural Polymers Group and their innovative technologies for a plastic‑free future. Great to see Xampla from my constituency, with their natural polymer alternative to plastics for uses such as food packaging and takeaway boxes!

Relieved Arthur Rank Hospice has secured enough donations to keep all beds open for the next year. I’m meeting Ministers and the ICB this week to push for sustainable funding — end-of-life care shouldn’t depend on charity.

Cutting business rates for pubs is the last chance for pubs and hospitality businesses to get the certainty they need to carry on. The Government must now get serious about backing our community hubs and high streets by backing this vital business rates relief.

I am pleased to announce the winner of my Christmas Card Competition is Rosie, from Mepal and Witcham Church of England Primary School! Thank you to all those talented pupils who submitted designs and made it such a pleasure to judge!

Family farmers should never have been put through this. After over a year of uncertainty and anguish, the Government has finally been forced to water down its unfair tax on inherited farmland. This concession has been hard won, thanks to farmers who fought tirelessly to protect their livelihoods.

I am proud to say that I have closed my 10,000th case, including individual questions, concerns, and calls for assistance covering a vast array of subjects and from people right across Ely and East Cambridgeshire. I now look forward to the next 10,000!

In a recent debate in Parliament, I called for a national action plan for Acquired Brain Injury. Current support is inadequate, yet successful rehabilitation and recovery is possible with the right care. For all those suffering and their carers, the Government must publish a national ABI strategy.
