I was proud to recently attend an event in Parliament hosted by representatives from Animal Free Research UK and the Centre for Human Specific Research in support of Herbie's Law, exploring alternative solutions to animal testing.

It’s a shocking listen. When politics and power can be bought it calls democracy into question. As I knock doors talking to people & raise money via quiz nights, BBQs & modest donations I wonder how the rest of us can compete & keep politics on the right track 😢

It was great to join Broadstone Art Society for the opening of their Spring Show at Upton Country Park Such talent in all formats, pop along over the next week & support them. One of the artists, David Roberts also did a 15-min portrait of me… made a change to sit still for that long 🤣

🚒 Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has a deficit of £1.5 million. 💰️ We must work across parties to encourage the Government to properly fund all our fire services so that we can protect all our residents - regardless of who runs their local fire authority.

🏴‍☠️ It was great to meet with James & the team (and Daisy the dog!) at Adventure Pirate last week. 🏹 Adventure Pirate is a brilliant outdoor education provider supporting young people in community and those with SEND. I even got to have a go at archery alongside some pupils from Lytchett School!

I was delighted to be able to host a debate in Parliament last week to raise the experience that many of my constituents have faced. Too many have faced extreme delays due to an antiquated service in which their cases have simply stalled. The DVLA is not a functioning public service.

On Monday, Councillor Peter Sidaway and I went to meet with Broadstone First School to continue our work looking at how we can help to improve safety at this location for families travelling to and from school.

It was a privilege to be asked to join the Purbeck Scouts St George’s Day Parade at Corfe Castle and give a short speech to the assembled young people The patron saint of England is also the PS of Scouts 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 chosen by Baden Powell for the qualities of courage, service, dedication & kindness.

Last week I met with Darryl, Steve, Terry & Scott to hear their concerns that Holt FC is to be sold. This week I raised this issue in Parliament - community groups can't compete with private buyers. I welcome the Government's commitment for the need for an independent valuation.

A sad day with Dignity in Dying as we expect the Lords to finally throw out the Assisted Dying Bill. However, there is so much hope here. I am passionate about moving this through. In the next session of Parliament we will do all we can to bring this Bill back. Today is a 'bump in the road'.

Project Welcome is a brilliant local campaign raising money to repair and modernise St Mary's in Sturminster Marshall. Today in Parliament I asked if, upon the closure of the Listed Place of Worship grant scheme, projects already underway will still be eligible for the renewal scheme.
