This week started during Conference and ended in the constituency. Here are some of the things I did: ✅Carried the Baton of Hope for a small part of its journey and spoke with others about the stigma around suicide. ✅Spoke on a panel about how to improve wellbeing and the economy.

Parliament is currently on pause for the Conference season. Party conferences are a great chance for us as MPs to listen, to raise issues that are important locally and to share our vision and values. Here's a little of what I got up to last weekend:

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! Ahead of party conference this weekend, I wanted to give you all a quick update on what I've been working on over the past couple of weeks: 🪖 Asked the Defence Minister in Parliament to support better homes for our armed forces sooner rather than later.

(1) Families need flexibility, our economy needs a boost and many dads want to spend more precious time with their young children. We could do all of this with an overhaul of our parental leave system.

It's appalling that Mandelson was made Ambassador when connections with Epstein were known. This is how victims are silenced. If we want to protect children against predators we must not put the protectors of paedophiles into positions of power.

I'm very pleased to announce that Hart Health Partnership has secured a new 15-year lease for Branksomewood Surgery, in Fleet. The Partnership has had to fight for over 2.5 years to achieve this, overcoming extensive legal and bureaucratic delays in what's been a very long and challenging process.

🌾Today is #BackBritishFarming day. 🐄 I have visited many of our local farms in #NorthEastHampshire, listening to farmers' concerns and raising these in Westminster. Farming is critical to our food security and environmental protections and our farmers need more support, not less.

Our Miliary personnel deserve accommodation that is at least in line with the Decent Homes Standard and the Liberal Democrats secured an amendment to the Renter's Rights Bill in the Lords that would do just this. The vote is later tonight.

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! It's been back to school – for MPs too! Back in Parliament, I've wasted no time in raising the issues you’ve told me about over the summer. Among other things, I’ve: 📑 Supported 3 Bus Services Bill Amendments aimed at increasing access to local bus networks.

After significant pressure, the Government has announced a one-year extension to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Fund. This small reprieve offers temporary relief, but does nothing to provide the long-term security and stability that is badly needed by young people who are adopted or in care.

And just like that it's the end of Summer recess. I've really enjoyed being able to spend more time in #NorthEastHampshire over the past few weeks. In this last week I: ✅ Visited two villages at the end of my summer tour - South Warnborough and Upton Grey.

1/4 Today I met Network Rail staff at #Bramley station. Local people have raised a number of issues with me including traffic delays at peak times and rail disruption. There aren't easy fixes.

This recess, I'm visiting many of our smaller villages. Most recently, I enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon in #Eversley hearing from local people about the issues that matter to them including development, traffic (epecially speeding), and education. Thank you to The Chequers pub for hosting.

👏Congratulations to all of you who secured the A-Level results you want and need today! Also, congratulations to everyone who took exams, regardless of the result. They are hard work, daunting and don't suit everyone. There are many possible different directions ahead and success takes many forms.

Hi North East Hampshire 👋 It's half-way through summer recess, and here’s some of the things I got up to our local area last week: 🚌 Continued my tour of our smaller villages; hearing from #Eversley residents about their top local issues, such as planning, speeding, and education.

Yesterday @msalexbaker.bsky.social and I had the pleasure of speaking with The Yateley Society about our work. Topics included local transport, sewage, healthcare, planning and green spaces. The consituency boundary runs through #Yateley so Alex Baker and I work together in areas affecting the town.

Last week, I continued my summer tour of our smaller villages with residents' meetings in #Silchester and #MortimerWestEnd. Thanks to all who attended. We discussed the particular issues in smaller villages, especially broadband, mobile signal and transport. And how vibrant these villages are 💚

(1) Recently, I met with staff from Great British Railways, the new Government organisation responsible for our railways, to learn more about the persistent reliability issues in our railway network. Now, I'm calling on the Transport Secretary to take faster action to fix these issues.

Recognition of the state of Palestine should not be used as a bargaining chip. It should have happened months ago. We also need far greater action to stop the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, including fully ceasing arms sales and implementing sanctions against the Israeli cabinet.

I've joined more than 200 MPs and signed a cross-party letter to the Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary urging them to recognise Palestine as a state. We must continue to work towards long-term peace which requires many things, one of which is a two-state solution.

Hi North East Hampshire 👋 Summer recess started on Wednesday. This means Parliament isn’t sitting, but there’s still a lot to do. This week, I: 🚌 Met with residents in Cliddesden and Mapledurwell to hear about issues important to them as part of my small village summer tour.

1) Earlier this week, I asked the Minister for Children and Families about the cuts to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF). The ASGSF has been a lifeline for adopted children, funding vital therapy to help them cope with the often traumatic circumstances around adoptions.

Another @libdems.org.uk win! After years of campaigning to end regulator confusion, the Government is scrapping #Ofwat. I've voted 4 times to amend the Water (Special Measures) Act, signed 5 Motions to Parliament, attended 6 Water All Party meetings and supported many Lib Dem amendments for change.

(1) HELP SAVE THE VICTORIA HALL CHARITY The Hall, in the heart of Hartley Wintney, has served generations across the village through its fantastic programme of events. These range from clubs, classes, and live music to lifetime memories such as charity events, community celebrations and weddings.

Happy #GlobalGetAHead Day! I support Global Get-A-Head day because I know, from working with local charity Harry's HAT, just how big a difference more regular infant head measurements would make for children's brain health.

I'm backing the Lib Dems' 5-factor approach to fixing our system for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). School underfunding has had a devastating impact on all our young people. But this has been particularly true for those with SEND.

(1/4) Victims of the Post Office Scandal have suffered for far too long - there can be no further delays to their full financial compensation. The final report published today by the Post Office Inquiry lays bare the scandal's devastating human impact, as well as the urgent need for redress.

Well, the rain held off for most of the #Hook Village Show and arrived just in time for my bit! Another fantastic event this year, extremely well-organised by the Hook and Odiham Lions. It was such a pleasure to draw the raffle, award dog show prizes and have a chat with some of our local groups.

Happy 77th birthday to our vital NHS! Founded on July 5, 1948, it’s provided a vital service to over 100 million people. This week, I visited the opening of Ark Cancer Charity's new Greenham Oncology Centre, an event and a place filled with hope and the dedication of so many staff and volunteers.

I was honoured when one year ago today, voters in North East Hampshire put their faith in me to be their MP. In the campaign I promised to be a hard-working and visible, standing up for issues that you care about to be the strong voice in Parliament that our community deserves.

Today, in Parliament, there will be a backbench business debate on WASPI, a cause I've firmly supported throughout my time as an MP. Unfortunately, though, as this timing clashes with some of my preexisting commitments, I will not be able to attend this debate. #WASPI

It's 97 years since women were able to vote on equal terms with men. This amazing commemorative photo was organised by @centenaryaction.bsky.social with each MP receiving a personalised sash by www.remakenewport.org I am the 658th female MP elected to Parliament and the 1st in North East Hampshire.

Today, I voted against the Universal Credit and PIP Bill. We need to help people into work, not push them into poverty. Just 54% of people with disabilities are employed despite many more wanting to work. It's even worse for those with learning disabilities (6%) and autism (30%).

🙋‍♂️The evidence was compelling. Dads want parental leave too and it must be paid. ☹️The UK has some of the worst parental leave in Europe with detrimental effects on parents, children, employers and the gender pay gap. ▶️This review (and hopefully change as a result) can't come soon enough.

About 5% of our population in North East Hampshire are veterans. After such sacrifice, it’s vital they are well-supported, but female veterans are around 10% less likely to be employed after their service than male veterans. Today I asked the Minister what the Government is doing to address this.
