🏦 It was a real pleasure to open the new Nationwide branch on Fleet high street, which will soon be the only physical bank left in the constituency. 💷 Although banking is increasingly done online, a physical teller can often still be a huge help.

✅ I'm glad to see that the Government has decided to scrap the role of Police and Crime Commissioner - the Lib Dems have been calling for this for years. 💰 They cost tens of millions of pounds, money that could otherwise be used to fund more frontline officers.

📢 The Lib Dems are calling for a 5% VAT cut for hospitality venues and for the removal of the renewable levy from people's energy bills. 📈 This would inject £12bn back into high street businesses and put £270 back into people's pockets for them to spend on occasional extras.

I welcome the Government's decision to reconsider issuing compensation to #WASPI women. Hundreds of thousands of women were failed when the age at which they could claim their state pension was changed without their knowledge. This includes more than 3,000 women in North East Hampshire.

🏃Sport offers fantastic physical, mental, and social benefits. But we heard last week that women and girls are being put off at every level because of the abuse they face. 🤝 The Women and Equalities select committee heard how we must do more to ensure that sport remains open to everyone.

The BBC isn't perfect, and it makes mistakes, but it's also a vital national institution and trusted source of news for millions across the globe. This should be an opportunity to improve the BBC, not destroy it.

We will remember those who fought and died for our freedom. It was a pleasure to join the services in Odiham and Fleet today for the services of remembrance.

The Government has announced changes to the National Curriculum. There’s some good in there, like stronger arts and digital education, which the Lib Dems have called for. But it’s not clear how these changes will be funded and I’m concerned already overloaded schools will be asked to do even more.

Phew! Back to Parliament this week and it's been a hive of activity. This week, I: 👩‍⚕️ Visited Richmond Surgery to learn more about the work they do. 🚓 Met with the Policing Minister to discuss issues raised by constituents including rural crime, speeding, theft and police recruitment.

💉 Glad to have received my flu vaccine this week, nice and early ahead of this year's flu season! 💙 Scientists work very hard to to ensure our vaccines are safe and up-to-date. ⭐ Vaccines protect vulnerable members of our community and reduce pressure on our GPs, pharmacies, and hospitals.

Earlier this year, the Women and Equalities Committee called on the Government to extend the right to bereavement leave to those who experience pre-24 week pregnancy loss. Now, the upcoming Employment Rights Bill will realise this change, making crucial respite available when it's needed most.

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. My thoughts are with the victims, our brave emergency services and the entire Jewish community.

This week started during Conference and ended in the constituency. Here are some of the things I did: ✅Carried the Baton of Hope for a small part of its journey and spoke with others about the stigma around suicide. ✅Spoke on a panel about how to improve wellbeing and the economy.

Parliament is currently on pause for the Conference season. Party conferences are a great chance for us as MPs to listen, to raise issues that are important locally and to share our vision and values. Here's a little of what I got up to last weekend:

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! Ahead of party conference this weekend, I wanted to give you all a quick update on what I've been working on over the past couple of weeks: 🪖 Asked the Defence Minister in Parliament to support better homes for our armed forces sooner rather than later.

(1) Families need flexibility, our economy needs a boost and many dads want to spend more precious time with their young children. We could do all of this with an overhaul of our parental leave system.

It's appalling that Mandelson was made Ambassador when connections with Epstein were known. This is how victims are silenced. If we want to protect children against predators we must not put the protectors of paedophiles into positions of power.

I'm very pleased to announce that Hart Health Partnership has secured a new 15-year lease for Branksomewood Surgery, in Fleet. The Partnership has had to fight for over 2.5 years to achieve this, overcoming extensive legal and bureaucratic delays in what's been a very long and challenging process.

🌾Today is #BackBritishFarming day. 🐄 I have visited many of our local farms in #NorthEastHampshire, listening to farmers' concerns and raising these in Westminster. Farming is critical to our food security and environmental protections and our farmers need more support, not less.

Our Miliary personnel deserve accommodation that is at least in line with the Decent Homes Standard and the Liberal Democrats secured an amendment to the Renter's Rights Bill in the Lords that would do just this. The vote is later tonight.

👋 Hi North East Hampshire! It's been back to school – for MPs too! Back in Parliament, I've wasted no time in raising the issues you’ve told me about over the summer. Among other things, I’ve: 📑 Supported 3 Bus Services Bill Amendments aimed at increasing access to local bus networks.

After significant pressure, the Government has announced a one-year extension to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Fund. This small reprieve offers temporary relief, but does nothing to provide the long-term security and stability that is badly needed by young people who are adopted or in care.

And just like that it's the end of Summer recess. I've really enjoyed being able to spend more time in #NorthEastHampshire over the past few weeks. In this last week I: ✅ Visited two villages at the end of my summer tour - South Warnborough and Upton Grey.

1/4 Today I met Network Rail staff at #Bramley station. Local people have raised a number of issues with me including traffic delays at peak times and rail disruption. There aren't easy fixes.

This recess, I'm visiting many of our smaller villages. Most recently, I enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon in #Eversley hearing from local people about the issues that matter to them including development, traffic (epecially speeding), and education. Thank you to The Chequers pub for hosting.

Yesterday @msalexbaker.bsky.social and I had the pleasure of speaking with The Yateley Society about our work. Topics included local transport, sewage, healthcare, planning and green spaces. The consituency boundary runs through #Yateley so Alex Baker and I work together in areas affecting the town.

Last week, I continued my summer tour of our smaller villages with residents' meetings in #Silchester and #MortimerWestEnd. Thanks to all who attended. We discussed the particular issues in smaller villages, especially broadband, mobile signal and transport. And how vibrant these villages are 💚

(1) Recently, I met with staff from Great British Railways, the new Government organisation responsible for our railways, to learn more about the persistent reliability issues in our railway network. Now, I'm calling on the Transport Secretary to take faster action to fix these issues.

Recognition of the state of Palestine should not be used as a bargaining chip. It should have happened months ago. We also need far greater action to stop the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, including fully ceasing arms sales and implementing sanctions against the Israeli cabinet.

I've joined more than 200 MPs and signed a cross-party letter to the Prime Minister & Foreign Secretary urging them to recognise Palestine as a state. We must continue to work towards long-term peace which requires many things, one of which is a two-state solution.
