I wish tactical RPGs would stop making wolves 1x1-square creatures when every wolf miniature ever made is at best 2x1 to 2x2.

So in my Draw Steel campaign we've decided to add another player, and he's gonna be playing a timeraider elementalist with a specialty in void magic, who took the crash-landed complication.. And the heroes are just emerging from the Delian Tomb so boy howdy do I have a good idea for crash landing.

Sometimes we get the occasional customer who is just clearly thick as a brick but tries to act like they're a charismatic mastermind. "I've been in like five times last week." No idea of even basic store layout. "Is that a Secret Lair? Do you have them?" Looking directly at the Secret Lairs.

The setup went over really well and the battle was a good one in the heroes’ favor! With three victories under their belts they came out explosively even after losing initiative. Vorgosh was constantly on the back foot, but it was still a race against time to save Violet!

I use Amsel Suite to keep track of things in Draw Steel, and have a toolboard to run the encounters. Here's the toolboard I have for the final encounter on the first level of the Delian Tomb, wherein the Heroes (hopefully) rescue Violet, the blacksmith's daughter.

Draw Steel friends: if an ability lets someone spend a Recovery (such as a Tactician's Mark), is spending the Recovery a free triggered action? In other words, if I'm bleeding and: - I make an attack against the Mark - I bleed - The Tactician spends 1 Focus - I spend Recovery - I bleed again???

The last week or two I’ve been able to dedicate a bit more time to reading again, and I’m on A Thousand Li: The Third Realm. I’m enjoying it a lot, of course—it is the biggest book in the series so far, and more like a travelogue, with vignettes of Wu Ying in different places.

The rulebook is a feature, not a bug. Making an effort to digest the rules is the bare minimum entry requirement to RPGs. It is wild to me that someone can keep showing up to the RPG table with no understanding of the mechanics of the game.
