The loudest night of my life is still seeing them in a loft space in Iowa City the winter of 1985. A seething mess of maybe 100 people. The brick walls were dripping and I remember resting my head against a frozen window to cool off.

I remember one morning after a 7th Street Hüsker Dü show that my head hurt from too many beers, my ears were ringing from the extreme walking sound, and my body hurt from the slam dancing. It was glorious.

Hüsker Dü's new live album "1985: The Miracle Year" is sooooo good. It is an auditory explosion, almost an aural attack, forcing their righteous tunes into your brain. Highly, highly recommended. It makes me all the more jealous of @freealonzo.bsky.social who saw them in concert many times.
