In Detroit and considering dinner in Windsor, ON. Apple Maps pointed me to a 23-hour multi-modal trip all the way around Lake Erie to get to the restaurant that is 2.6 miles from my hotel. I believe I will be too hungry by then.

Wonderful news for this unique complex of 3 buildings. The Grain Exchange is from the golden era when Minneapolis was milling capital of the planet. And I'm also long overdue in making a longer history🧵, so here goes:

Moved to an earlier flight. My family was like “it’s taking everyone three hours to get through security!” But just went through the shortest and fastest TSA security line I’ve ever seen as MSP. 🤷♂️

It’s okay to take some joy in this morning’s announcement. Hopefully it was 100% clear to everyone that the administration was always going to claim victory. Regardless of outcomes, it’s what they do. Always.

If my followers have been inspired by the fierce resistance the Twin Cities has put up to ICE, you should make it a point to take a trip here (April through October 😬), enjoy the wonderful things MN has to offer and support our small businesses. It continues to be a really tough time for them.

I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

The reality is that 2024 was a fundamental test of the moral character of the nation and we failed spectacularly. We’re living with the consequences now. Maybe we improve. I hope so.

And that's a wrap. At 3:47PM the last passenger train leaves Minneapolis for good. These particular tracks were first laid in 1867, becoming the transcontinental mainline of JJ Hill's Great Northern Railway empire and the nation's gateway to the Pacific Northwest.
