Biked home from northeast in the rain and had to dodge so many people lighting fireworks in the streets. I don’t remember it like this.

One thing I’ve said a lot is that a component of the trans panic success is upper-middle/upper class excessive investment in children’s sports as a pathway to elite college access and the resource hoarding ingrained in that impulse.

I don't know why but I feel like bluesky can help with this. Is there a place on the internet SOMEWHERE where I can view old RFPs for various government contracts? For free?

"But I saw a cyclist roll through a stop sign once!" The only serious approaches to street safety involve slowing down drivers and making it harder and more uncomfortable to drive at unsafe speeds. Everything else is just crumbs.

Yeah, I hate to say this is true, but it is. Four justices agreeing is a signal that this is now the benchmark for any conservative jurist. “No more Souters” will turn into “no more Barretts.”

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

Please will someone find out if Wurman himself was the recipient of birthright citizenship? Based on his parents’ immigration dates and their proximity to his birth, it’s relevant that someone who is basically leading the (pseudo-)intellectual charge of this benefited from it.

The lesson should be "stop accepting their bullshit framing." We KEEP DOING this shit, and it doesn't work! Stop ceding entire swaths of policy to the worst people in the world. That is how we got where we are today. Stand up and fight, goddammit.

2028 is going to be a fucking extinction-level electoral event for so many of these incumbent Dems who have coasted for years without any serious challenges. This cycle is the clarion call for ten times as many primary challengers to take on suddenly-very-beatable-looking incumbents.

I do not think the right gets that what it is doing is incredibly counterproductive. If the punishment for engaging in non-violent activity is the same as committing acts of violence, it makes violence more likely, not less. But the right is incredibly stupid, as most authoritarians are.

This weekend DoorDash tweeted about the World Cup but repeatedly tagged T-Pain, as if they were mixing him up with NZ soccer player Tim Payne. T-Pain got in on it too, acting confused. Turns out it was all a "partnership." No ad disclosure on any of the posts.
