A trans woman was arrested in the UK for posting on Bluesky “I hope she was handcuffed to the bed as she screamed in agony." This was a reference to comments made by Widdecombe when she was prisons minister where she supported the handcuffing of Incarcerated pregnant women giving birth.

There is no free speech in the UK, especially if you're trans. While comments like they may be distasteful to some, they're purely expressive and should absolutely be protected speech. They're going after her specifically because she's trans. The UK is not safe for trans people.

Yeah, it was "let's figure out a way for the people who looked at the first round of unauthorized consecrations and went 'this is too far' but still have disagreements with Vatican II despite accepting that it is valid".

He tolerated a wild amount of heterodoxy from the right wing of the church as long as they were sufficiently opposed to communism, while squashing a lot of left-wing theology (I still really need to write that thread about the Latin American church and the liberation theology movement)

It's how Vatican II denial has lasted this long -- they were given deeply preferential treatment (and it still wasn't enough for the SSPX). Part of the crashout here is that Leo isn't treating them anywhere *near* as gently.
