It's me, and my mom, in the living room, waiting for midnight, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

If I could define my 2025 with one word, that'd be gratitude. It was a rough year, both professionally and personally. Fuck, there was a day where I thought of quitting the law altogether because I didn't feel adequate enough to practice it. I thought I was a let down and disappointed to everyone.

Oh oh... I wore a three piece suit for the first time, which is something I had always wanted to do. (And I pulled it out... I think)

I had my first overnight stay at a different city to attend a trial (that was postponed).

I made the last payment on my car, effectively paying it off after 50 months (Pic from may 2021, the first time we brought it home).

After 12 days... Here we are again.

I'm haunted by the people whose trust I've defrauded. By the sins that even if they find absolution I'll never forgive myself for. The people whose kindness I turned away. That $10 loan I never paid back. (Also, I always assumed, unless informed otherwise, that they never flirted with me).

This one time, I stepped into some dog's shit on my way to school. The smell gave me away when I entered the class room. I was in the 8th - 9th grade, I think... So this guy says very loudly, for everyone to hear: "Juan stepped into his brother (as in, the piece of shit and I were siblings).

I was at your house today. You've been gone for six years now, but it'll always be your house. I hope you could see the man I am turning into. I think you'd be proud. I've been doing my best to keep the promise I made you. Christmas isn't the same without you. I miss you.
