I like that London names their transit lines. It gives them personality. Numbers, letters, and colors are kind of sterile. Anyway, next year, I'm looking forward to riding the Balducci Line all the way from Seattle.

Hmm. I see I can't access this part of Bellevue yet. I need to synchronize with the Link Station before I can unlock this area.

Dismantling the legal and regulatory frameworks that hollowed out cities, transferred wealth to the suburbs, and then made it financially prohibitive to return is one of the great projects of urbanism.

Buried in Seattle’s feasibility report for legalizing 4 and 6 units is a fascinating stat that 70,000 of the 100,000 formerly single family zoned lots have sold since 2005. Think about how much wealth was made over that time and not a peep about “greedy homeowners” or “gentrification”

This project will improve travel across the north side of the Dallas metro. But after spending $2.1 billion, you’d think you’d get more frequent service. Instead of an easy to use option people don’t have to use a schedule to ride, they’ll be waiting up to an hour to board a train.

Fascinating thread on the back-and-forth in a suburb with almost nothing in it (it's almost all single family houses) staring down the barrel of consequences from their own exclusionary choices.

38. The number 38 is cursed at KCM; any route that carries it is doomed to destruction. But one of the 38s had something we still need today—local east/west service over Beacon Hill. At some point, something needs to go up and down S College St—there's going to be a lot more people there soon.

Reminder that Aaron Swartz was facing 35 years in prison and financial devastation for trying to programmatically download and open the contents of JSTOR, which led to him taking his own life. But OpenAI is going to scrape all of academia and make billions by plagiarizing it.

Tried one of the new Seattle city street EV chargers, but it only went up to 0.1 kW and then started a loop of connecting and disconnecting over and over. Tesla L2 charger working ok though. Man.

Either way, though, upping to a 4 ton should barely impact the price. These systems cost about $5k to buy wholesale. You can get them online shipped for free in many cases, and it's often the same equipment the pros will install but re-badged. The gouging is insane and criminal, frankly.
