Hi Folks! A lot of things have happened since I first started writing Light From Uncommon Stars. Recently, I've asked Tor to make a change in the book for all future editions. If you've bought a copy, please feel free to make the change on your own. Yes, this is an official retcon. <3 Ryka

I finally watched Kpop Demon Hunters. Wow.... It was amazing and inspiring and magical and soooooo well-written, composed, directed, and performed. It's one of those movies that while watching, you just feel grateful that it exists.

New (re) post! NOTE: This was published 3 years ago, but I wanted to share it again. It's an extension of my thoughts as I wrote the conversation Shizuka and Lan had about the Endplague and the Fermi Paradox, especially where Shizuka suggested that “maybe the universe is filled with introverts?”

They say "live each day as if it is your last." If that is true, folks would say my life ended on a disappointing note. Writing wasn't there. I was feeling too blah to exercise. Intonation on the violin sucked. My main accomplishment today seems to have been to not stuff myself on too much bread.

Why didn't I realize earlier that guitars and cellos have such similar scale lengths? In fact, a cello has the scale length of a baritone guitar! Knowing this makes the cello so much more approachable :D
