One of my favorite examples of regular effects being adapted to CITY's aesthetic is these transitions. Yamamura did something similar, though again, everyone's execution is distinct The lineart distortion might be a filter (not sure! Hope they mention it), but the "wrong" painting is def manual

The fun part is they all have their own tricks! Kitanohara did something similar with objects rather than characters. Ota turned digital effects like sparkles, shading, reflections, etc into clearly drawn effects... then it all contrasts with the physical backdrop. "Handmade" from a different angle!
