#Febchantment Less vocabulary, more vibe. The newer system uses the words runes and sigils interchangeably (something to reconsider in editing). It also tends to use a lot of math terms for spell construction; runic equations and matrices etc., but uses poetic terms for more advanced spells.

Sent my first submission of the year. An actual short story. STILL feel nervous as hell trying this. Spent ages hovering over "submit". Heart is racing. Reward time; leftover lasagna, pretzels from this week's Nerd Nite presentation and the finale of JoJo part 6.

Being paranoid about overusing ellipses and em dashes in a round of revisions has made me realize how often I have characters cut each other off midsentence in a particular short story.

#Critterary An extinct order of mage hunters created constructs that ate magic to drain items. When the order fell, the machines fed off the items in a vault for centuries. In time, oozes entered and became predator (eating metal) and prey (magic essence to eat). Used this creature’s stats for them.

#Critterary Another tabletop story. Harpies in DnD have a luring song ability and Matriarchs makes it harder to resist. I set up an encounter to work like sirens, luring the players to a watery doom. Harpies have a +1 strength, so their attempts to drown the players weren’t as dangerous as I hoped.

#AwesomeCharacters Names drive me nuts. 🫠 I've had a few filler names stick around, but it's mostly descriptive or random noises. My secret weapon has been taking stuff from my old tabletop games, maybe swapping a few letters around. But that's not an infinite pool.
