I did another morning walk (because it’s 52 degrees and probably won’t be that warm again for months) and voice-to-text drafted the bones of a chapter I need to write and my phone thought “Asher” was “action” which is extra funny because he’s the most passive character in the whole story lol

In my romance I have the MMC as more emotionally available and less sexually experienced, and the FMC is the inverse - emotionally guarded but comfortable and confident with sexuality.

This was a productive writing weekend! I did get my opening chapters revised, tried ellipsus, rewrote 6 sequel chapters into present tense, and finished my beta read. Plus my husband and I recaulked our shower, got to the gym, and did a Costco run. Ready for my 3 day work week now :)

Beta /alpha read. It’s valuable feedback to get but also I’ve learned from having to think critically to give useful feedback. I’d never done it before this year and I’m on my 7th read now. I’ll have time for more reads soonish if anyone is looking for a reader - and I’ll need some soon hehe :)

Work has been busy for a ~while~ and I would love to just turn my brain off and watch baseball but it’s over for the season. Hoping to revisit my manuscript over the 4 day thanksgiving weekend when I’m mentally recharged.

Hard to say - I write a lot for my job (corporate marketing) so when I feel this it’s usually when I’m drained from work in general. Maybe I would experience this less if I worked in a different field or one day when I’m retired/between jobs or something

I read The Grapes of Wrath immediately after graduating college and while job hunting and though I did not move for seasonal farm work, I still felt seen by the pursuit of employment. Very relevant timing. One I should re read with even more perspective nearly a decade later.

The antagonist is kind of a person - the MMC’s mom - but really more fear of having to set boundaries with her based on her past actions This time at least I didn’t try to go for the half body image and I had time to add color to the garment 🤣

This is tough because I don’t re read books often so when I do, it feels like reading it for the first time. Maybe The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or The Grapes of Wrath for different reasons.

I got my revisions done that I needed! I am going to ask someone to take a pass and let them sit for a bit, and try not to stress too much about if they are "perfect" or not but did shave 1,600 words/1.8% off the whole manuscript so it's a tighter read for sure. #amwriting #amrevising

I’m Hope, my WIP is a new adult college sports romance called “At Your Pace” and my goal is to finish my revisions for the ‘revise and resubmit’ request I got!

I’m Hope and my parents taught me to read really early - I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know how - and writing silly stories as a kid came to me. I majored in English just like my mom. I work in marketing and just drafted my first novel this year.

Listen Valeria is not above some old fashioned seduction tactics (If I rewrote this from her perspective my lore is that there was a mixup with the costume size and it wasn’t meant to be this tight but she’s rolling with it anyway) #romance

So this scene has already been reworked, but pulling this from the very first draft in Google Docs as it's my only usage of 'spell' across 1.5 manuscripts reminded me I need to work it in somehow... (this joke will only be funny to like three people on this platform)

I know this was yesterday, but: "Fortunately, our team has a godsend of a Spanish tutor: Gabrielle, an education major double majoring in Spanish. The poor thing has our sorry asses to deal with, but maybe we make for good practice." Really excited for this subplot!

My current WIP, a sequel, takes place over the course of roughly a year at a university in the Hudson Valley and some scenes in New York City.

Emerson’s family has a dog (who lives at home while he’s off at college) and he loves his little fluffy goldendoodle. No other big mention of animals. He’s a classic dog kind of dude. Valeria would have a cat but her mom and sister are highly allergic.

I have new ideas for spinoffs for supporting characters in my current WIPs, then the main couple in that series becomes supporting characters in the others! Friend characters are some of my favorite in stories because friendship is so important and supports the MC’s development 💜
