Hundreds of people have packed into Chicago's Thalia Hall tonight for a community listening session on CPD collaboration with ICE/CBP. Police district councillors who gathered petition signatures required to hold tonight's hearing are opening by thanking the community for showing out.

Some men may downplay climate change risks to avoid appearing feminine
A new study finds that men who are anxious about their masculinity are less likely to care about climate change. They may view environmental concern as a feminine trait that threatens their image.

I've already RTed The Americans and The Leftovers, which are both incredible, but I think my actual answer is The Good Place. I watch the finale every time I need to cry and it always works

Among everything else, congestion pricing does something exceptionally rare and good when talking about transportation in the United States: it puts the costs on drivers, to the benefit of everybody (even including the drivers willing to pay for it, who get a better experience from reduced traffic).

A thing I learned this year: It takes surprisingly few emails/calls to get a rep's attention. As a strategy, it's probably more effective per person to call Congress than it is to protest. Our leaders love to ignore us, but they do actually get worried when enough of us overwhelm their phones.

Cities become so much better when we make the bus suck less; there are still many, many ways we can make the bus suck less; and as a whole we should be trying to make the things we already know how to do suck less instead of waiting/wishing/hoping for vaporware tech to save the day.

Payrolls fell -105k in October and rose +64k in November. August and September payrolls were also revised down a total of 33k. These data suggest VIRTUALLY NO EMPLOYMENT GROWTH since April ("Liberation day"). Unemployment is now up to 4.6%. This is a tricky report, so stay tuned.
