the tricky thing about heatstroke is that people think the damage is done once you get out of the heat or get your temperature down, but your whole body has to cope with the damage like you just had a systemic inflammatory event where everything has to be repaired.

Also heat stroke stacks, every time you get it you become more vulnerable to it in the future (wish I'd known this some time in between the second and third time I got it *that I remember* 🙃)

The blocky things for keeping lunchboxes cold are good for this too.

Adding a pinch of salt and sugar to the water in lieu of store bought electrolyte drinks helps too (but don't follow internet recipes that say to add potassium, because it's really easy to get potentially deadly potassium levels from homemade electrolyte drinks)

Here's a list of all kinds of medications that may interact with heat leading to a higher risk of overheating/heatstroke. Please take care of yourselves and if you have friends/family who take these medications make sure they know the higher risk. ❤️

Keep your moisturizer in the fridge. It really helps.

Swamp coolers will save your ass in dry heat. You can make rudimentary ones out of a box fan and a bucket of ice. Humid heat is harder to beat but cool showers can help and continue drinking cold water

It's most important to keep your internal temperature down. So drink a ton of water, drink more than you think you need and if you have ice, use it. eat as many Popsicles as you can stand
