Good morning. The government is shut down because Trump wants to act like a king and steal from you. Democrats have no obligation to support a budget that funds the destruction of our democracy - and DOUBLES health premiums to fund a tax cut for billionaires.

Unconditional surrender, military occupation, and war crime tribunals. Yeah. “Negotiated peace.” I think he’s trying to quote a bit from Hardcore History and screwing it up.

Dude did one bad podcast and everyone throws out the track record of actual legislation signed to protect a pretty vulnerable group. "He's not perfect so fuck him" is kind of how we got where we are where many vulnerable groups get nailed by people who are actually out to get them.

If this is how it’s gonna be, that a person needs to be a party to a suit to have their rights protected, then we’re gonna need a lot more lawyers. Maybe I’ll fuck around and finally take the bar now that I’m no longer a federal employee (and thus allowed to rep parties adversarial to the govt).

You can see the ICE agents in their minivans then the LAPD cars in the back appearing to block the Dodger Stadium parking lot entrance. When I asked an LAPD officer if they are blocking ICE from entering the parking lot she said “put it this way. The Dodgers don’t want them coming in.”

Use a normal charities for Gazans. Someone telling you to use your bank account to funnel money in exploits your altruism and puts the risk of prison squarely on you. The person exploiting your goodwill that won't do it themselves tells you something about how things are going to go...

Trump has cut the NIH budget by more than half in defiance of Congressionally mandated appropriations for the agency. No comparison historically, not even the Great Recession. This is clearly not legal and Congress needs to address it.

If you're confused about how bad the Signal scandal is assume you're a Houthi with that info pre-strike. At a min, the target is getting moved, limited AA can target US planes, if you're real quick you can take a shot at the carrier given flight schedule/time to target to figure out where it is.

I meant to say something about this earlier, but this should actually provoke a severe civ-mil crisis on the uniformed side in the Pentagon; based on what Hegseth relayed to them they've moved out on what they believed to be clear Presidential guidance This is evidence that doesn't exist

NEW: DOJ goes full "technically correct, the best kind of correct" in a new brief telling Judge Boasberg why it didn't violate his orders—e.g., the court wrote that the govt couldn't "remove" anyone, not "undo removals that have already occurred"!

For whatever it’s worth I think the Signal scandal is probably the end of our friends not pushing back. Smart, highly organized bad people doing bad things is terrifying. A bunch of morons doing moron stuff you realize the slightest pushback works pretty well.

Many Dem consultants urge adopting bad GOP positions. Better to adopt proven GOP tactics. Republicans made issues out of nothing through repetition and outrage. A national security breach implying many more (Signal? Not DoD comms?) must be made into an issue by Dems. It won't just become one.

Just the most powerful people in the United States accidentally adding the EIC of The Atlantic to a Signal chat about a military operation. I can't think of the last time anything close happened in terms of such an egregious and accidental leak.
