Tonight, Trump delivered his State of the Union address, claiming that our country is ‘bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever.’   But for Black Americans, the reality behind these blatantly racist lies, disrespect, and outright distortions tells a very different story.

The President just gave himself a big round of applause for 2 hours. He doesn’t deserve a round of applause, he deserves to be fired.

The President announced a war on fraud. You can begin with the most corrupt administration in American history. The Trump Cartel.

The President made it clear tonight he has no interest in solving the health care crisis that HE created.

Arresting journalists and activists for documenting or protesting an out-of-control government’s abuse of power is an attack on the First Amendment and democracy itself. We are on a slippery slope into authoritarianism. Pam Bondi is a disgrace and needs to be held accountable.

This is horrifying. It appears that ICE executed a man on the street. This violent agency must be abolished and every agent involved in this murder must be held accountable.

Sickening. Abhorrent. Lawless. This cannot continue. The Senate MUST block the ICE funding bill this week. Full stop.

It only took ONE YEAR for Donald Trump to push America to its breaking point.

One year ago today, the world watched as Donald Trump took his oath of office as the 47th President of the United States. Since then? Trump has unleashed chaos; stoked division with his war on DEI; traumatized our federal workforce; intimidated immigrant communities; and sowed fear in our country.

House and Senate Democrats came together for a moment of silence to honor the lives lost on January 6, 2021.

January 6th made it painfully clear: indifference and inaction lead to insurrection.

Five years later, it is not lost on our Caucus that the efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election with false claims of illegitimate voting occurred during a year when we saw historic participation from Black voters. The fight to protect our democracy is far from over.

Healthcare tax credits for working families expire in 5 days. Republicans refuse to extend them. Earlier this month I asked a Republican Congressman a simple question -- why can't his constituents have the same health care coverage he does?

Millions of Americans are about to see their health care costs skyrocket, but instead of voting on my bill to save health care, the Republican Speaker sent the entire House home for the holidays.

Life is too expensive in the United States. And Republicans have done nothing about it. You deserve better.

After months of inaction, Republicans introduced a last-minute package that fails to address the health care crisis they created. I anchored a @cbc.house.gov Special Order Hour demanding the permanent extension of the ACA enhanced premium tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.

There is still time to extend the Obamacare credits before premiums spike next year. To my colleagues on the other side of the aisle: Put partisan politics aside and do the right thing.
