Last night, I voted against Republicans’ DHS funding bill again. TSA, FEMA, and Coast Guard workers have been working without pay since mid-February. House Republicans don’t care and are still playing games with their paychecks.

Today I introduced the Same-Day Paratransit Innovation Act. This legislation would incentivize the use of same-day paratransit technology at public transit agencies to allow for more flexible paratransit services for individuals with disabilities & others who cannot use fixed-route public transit.

Equal Pay Day is about the enduring fight for the future for women & girls. I am so proud to have secured over $11 MILLION in Community Project Funding for 15 projects across the East Bay. Mayor Barbara Lee and Council members Janani Ramachandran and Kevin Jenkins joined me in my office in D.C. to celebrate the 3 projects that the City of Oakland received funding for.

I am proud to announce that I secured over $1 million in Community Project Funding for the East Bay Regional Park District for water quality improvement! This funding is a part of the $11 million I secured for 15 different projects across our district.

As the first congenitally blind member of Congress, bringing disabled voices to the policy making table is extremely important to me. Last week, I hosted a roundtable at the Center for Independent Living in Berkeley to hear from and strategize with disability leaders on the most pressing issues.

In December, an undertrained ICE agent wrongfully detained my constituent Carlos De La Garza. Armed ICE agents deployed in unmarked vehicles are terrorizing our communities AND are poorly vetted & trained. In fact, ICE has eliminated over 200 hours from its basic training program in recent months.

Today, I voted against H.Res. 1099, a Republican resolution that contains inaccuracies and is designed to justify the President's actions in Iran.

Once again, I voted NO on Republicans' blank check for DHS. The funding bill includes ZERO accountability measures to reign in ICE and CBP’s lawlessness, it’s unacceptable. Communities are being terrorized, and people are dying, but Republicans refuse to put forth a serious proposal.

I just voted for a bipartisan War Powers Resolution to stop the President’s illegal military actions in Iran. Militarization has never been the path forward, and funding bombs instead of schools, full bellies, and housing has never been the solution.

It’s long past time that Kristi Noem was fired. But for now, swapping out who sits behind that desk changes absolutely nothing - inside and outside of Congress, we will continue to keep the pressure up for systemic changes before another cent goes to DHS.
