In the richest country on Earth, no one should go broke trying to afford their health care. For 189,000 Central Floridians & for constituents who’ve written to my office, that’s exactly what’s happening because Trump & Republicans would rather give billionaires a tax break than protect your care.

Today marks the LONGEST government shutdown in U.S. history. All because Trump and Republicans in Congress want to raise your health care costs to give billionaires and corporations another tax break. Enough. We need to reopen the government and protect affordable health care.

Trump would rather let 42 million families, including families like Micah's, go hungry than follow the law and work with Congress to reopen the government. This cruelty and chaos from this administration isn't just the strategy, it's the point.

A teacher working two jobs who can’t afford doctor visits. A veteran worried one bill could make him homeless. A mom fighting stage four breast cancer. These are just some of the Central Floridians impacted by the Republican health care crisis.

It’s the first day of open enrollment for health insurance under the ACA. While families struggle to keep coverage, Trump and Republicans are driving up health care costs to give billionaires another tax break. We must extend ACA tax credits and make care affordable for all.

Trump chose not to use emergency funds to feed over 40 million Americans. A federal judge just ruled that it's against the law. Mr. President, the cruelty stops here. Food for our people should never be a political bargaining chip.
