grief is political in a society that dehumanizes its citizens and actively works to desensitize us to death and loss. no, grief is not simply a political statement, but listening/tending to such emotions can bring us deeper into our personal values (which often inform our political values).

i want to know why our daily lives/routines and our healthcare policies do NOT revolve around the needs of those who need the most caregiving and support. bc when you center disabled & aging folks and babies, you create a net that can catch every need if woven at the bequest of these communities.

i work with and study death/grief (and disability) a lot. so sometimes my mind just goes to drafting eulogies for people i love while i’m in the shower, cleaning, walking, etc. thankful it’s not intrusive, but a welcome anticipatory grief that helps me stay present bc i know it won’t last forever
