A friend asked the other day for a picture of a moment when you were truly happy. I had to think about it, and realized at my moments of true happiness, I'm not taking pictures, I'm in the moment, experiencing it. So while I have pictures of when I'm happy -t he true happiness moments? in my head.

Got to introduce a bunch of people to rambutans today. It was fun. People in their 60s, 70s who had never had the fruit before finding something new they liked!

Good morning! Nothing like making French onion soup at 7 am! People think this was always a really fancy, bougie soup - but in reality, it's peasant food. You need beef stock - easily made from beef bones, super cheap then; onions; thyme; butter or oil; a splash of wine. All easy peasant stuff.

Sunshine today, but still only 38 degrees outside, with a breeze. Chickens came out today - at least some of them. Making soup base out of the remains of a rotisserie chicken, and then bread, chili and French onion soup for tomorrow to feed my food bank crew and then anyone else who wants some.

Former Coloradoan - was never able to go myself, but knew people who did - it makes amazing things happen. Do it if you can.

Oh and just a reminder: elected US officials are supposed to represent Americans, not lead them. These aren't your leaders, they are your representatives and if they are refusing to represent you, its time to have new representatives.

How I know I have really good neighbors; I just got a message asking if we had enough firewood to get through this cold snap - they'd have brought it to me this evening, no charge. I thanked them, and said no - we have enough, but it feels good that others are looking out for each other.

OK- now the cold is starting to move in. Just a touch - heavy clouds, 10 degrees cooler, but that wind is bringing a bite to it.

So beautiful outside right now; sunny, light breeze, 63 degrees. You wouldn't know that tonight it will be 28 degrees, a high of 32 tomorrow, a low of 23 tomorrow. But it works well for us today as husband winter preps the coops, and I split firewood and fill the woodbox.

This kid is a lot of people's life goals. Most excellent.

Things I learned today. I know scaring horses, and "extreme speeds" were arguments against automobiles, but not that someone had figured a way to make things easier on horses.

Husband and Daughter came and got me, told me to put on the big lens. Daughter called this the Vulture Christmas Tree. She counted at least 70 in all the trees.

Final count came in - 1200 books were handed out to almost 1200 kids; and event attendance of over 3500 people. That's amazing for a second year event.

Ready for the Halloween event - we gave out over 1000 books in 2 1/2 hours. It was non stop. Several of the children literally squealed with joy at getting a new book. Parents were thrilled.
